Suspension of Membership is a sanction to which members are subject. This sanction may be imposed by an undergraduate member’s chapter, its officers, or its Graduate Trustees following procedures outlined in the Bylaws of the Fraternity.

Suspension of Membership is permitted by Section 25.38 (b) of the Bylaws, which reads:

“Suspension of any or all privileges of membership for the defined period of time specified in the sanctions imposed or upon the satisfaction of specific conditions, including monetary fines. Such a suspension may not to exceed the duration of the member’s status as an undergraduate student.”

Additionally, graduate members are subject to similar penalties if bound to a graduate chapter (Section 25.6):

“Graduate members will be bound, if members of a Graduate Chapter, to the Bylaws of that chapter; and a violation of same can result in imposition of the penalty of denial of graduate chapter privileges.”
