The Leadership Institute is a premier leadership experience, empowering brothers to work on real chapter issues. During the event, attendees will learn about their personal leadership style and values, and they will develop a plan to tackle touch chapter issues incongruence with the Fraternity’s Ritual and values.
Additionally, brothers who attend The Leadership Institute will be able to:
- Articulate their own definition and personal style of leadership.
- Define what a “personal value” means and identify their own personal values.
- Create a realistic action plan in consultation with other brothers and facilitators for guiding themselves and their chapters.
Each year, one member from each chapter/provisional chapter is highly encouraged to attend. Up to two brothers from the same chapter/provisional chapter will be accepted to attend, though this number may increase based upon total registrations.
The Leadership Institute 2024
Event Details
When: Participants will attend one of the following sessions:
- Session 1: June 27-30
- Session 2: July 18-21
Where: Transylvania University – Lexington, Kentucky
Who: Members who want to be a future chapter/campus leader
Cost: The Institute is FREE for undergraduates (1-2 members from each chapter). Thanks to generous gifts from graduate brothers, all lodging, meals and transportation costs – including airfare – will be covered.

Travel to & from the Institute
If you are driving, we encourage you to carpool with brothers near you who are also attending. Individuals who drive to Lexington will be provided with a form to complete to receive reimbursement for their travel to and from the Institute.
If you are flying, Phi Gamma Delta will book and coordinate your flight to and from the Institute. Travel from the airport to Transylvania University when you arrive and from Transylvania University to the airport on Sunday will be provided.
Schedule
Participants are expected to attend all Leadership Institute sessions. Questions about travel or personal needs can be directed to the Director of Education. The schedule below is subject to change based on program needs:
Day 1: Welcome & Phi Gamma Delta 101
- By 2:00 pm: Travel to Lexington – participants’ flights are scheduled so they can participate in the full day. Participants driving must be at Transylvania and checked into The Leadership Institute by 2:00 pm.
- 3:00 pm – 8:30 pm: Programming
- 9:00 am – 7:00 pm: Programming
- 7:30 pm: Planned brotherhood event
Day 3: Identifying Issues & Building a Plan
- 9:00 am – 7:30 pm: Programming
- 7:30 pm: Planned brotherhood event
- 9:00 am – 1:00 pm: Programming
- After 1:00 pm: Travel home – participants’ flights are coordinated so they can attend all sessions
