As a new brother of Phi Gamma Delta, you should be aware of our Fraternity Laws regarding hazing:

No chapter or member shall require, allow or participate in any hazing ceremony or activity. Hazing is any action taken or situation created intentionally that causes embarrassment, harassment or ridicule and risks physical, emotional and/or mental harm, regardless of the person’s willingness to participate in order to join or retain membership. Hazing includes, but is not limited to activities and/or requirements imposed on individuals or groups which:

  • Violate federal, state, provincial, local, college/university or Fraternity laws and policies.
  • Knowingly or recklessly subjects a person(s) to unreasonable risk of physical, mental or emotional harm or humiliation.
  • Involve the forced or suggested consumption of alcohol or drugs, or any other substance in any non-customary manner.
  • Involve or threaten brutality of a physical or mental nature.
  • Are demeaning and/or humiliating.
  • Adversely affect a person’s well-being and/or academic performance.
  • Impose undue hardship or abridge any rights.

Additionally, no member or chapter acting through its members may lie, intentionally make material misrepresentations or omissions or otherwise seek to obstruct or impede any Fraternity investigation or adjudication into potential violations of the Laws of the Fraternity.

For any infraction of theses sections, members may be subject to the sanctions described in Section 25.38 of the Bylaws which include: expulsion, suspension, denial of privileges, removal from office, monetary fine and revocation of membership. Any member found guilty of hazing which causes, or which could have caused, physical, mental or emotional harm, or involves the forced or suggested consumption of alcohol, drugs or any other substance, shall be subject to sanctions described in Section 25.38(1)a–(1)d, which include: expulsion, suspension and denial of privileges.

For any infraction of theses sections, chapters may be subject to the sanctions descried in Sections 25.40-25.46 of the Bylaws which include: revocation of charter, suspension of charter, graduate trusteeship in lieu of suspension, fines and probation. Any chapter found guilty of hazing which causes, or which could have caused, physical, mental or emotional harm, or involves the forced or suggested consumption of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance, shall be subject to sanctions described in Sections 25.40-25.42 which include: revocation of charter, suspension of charter, graduate trusteeship in lieu of suspension.
