SERVICE "We encourage Service. We have the ability, the opportunity, and the duty to serve our fellow human beings. Our reward is the satisfaction that comes from serving." - The Phi Gamma Delta Values In 2004, Phi Gamma Delta for the first time designated a charitable organization as its official international philanthropy: The Red Cross. Chapters are not expected to replace their current or traditional service/philanthropic causes. However, we do ask that all chapters conduct at least one project per year for the Red Cross. Suggested Chapter Opportunities: Suggested Individual Opportunities: - Blood Donor

Get in touch with your local chapter of the Red Cross to volunteer: Is your chapter already serving the community? Report your philanthropic and service activities. SERVICE VS. PHILANTHROPY There has been a recent shift within the college community toward hosting fundraising events instead of providing direct service to charitable causes. The best service programs of chapters – those that have the greatest overall impact -- will have brothers involved in both types of projects over the course of the year. Service examples: Giving blood, building a Habitat house, singing at a nursing home, working at a soup kitchen, providing services/ goods Philanthropy examples: Battle of the Bands, Talent Show, Football Run, any “a-thon” Other volunteer services to help you or your chapter: Will your service/philanthropy event be covered by our liability insurance policy? Email us a description of the event/project.
